Looking for a last minute summer holiday by the sea \u2014 but without the crowds and sky-high prices? Then Albania might just be the perfect match. This Balkan gem is still relatively undiscovered, which makes it surprisingly affordable and still widely available in July and August. The beaches are stunning (think turquoise waters and white pebbles), the landscapes are wild and green, and the atmosphere feels a bit like Croatia \u2014 20 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can easily plan a road trip or base yourself in one spot along the coast. The Albanian Riviera stretches from Vlor\u00eb all the way down to Ksamil near the Greek border, with scenic bays, mountain villages and family-run tavernas along the way. In the mood for a last minute summer holiday that\u2019s truly something special? South Africa has it all: wildlife safaris, vibrant cities, dramatic coastlines, and world-class wine. And although it\u2019s winter there in July and August, that actually makes it the perfect<\/em> time to go on safari. The dry season means better wildlife spotting, fewer mosquitoes, and pleasant weather. Around Cape Town, it\u2019s quieter and surprisingly sunny, with around 18\u00b0C and lots of clear skies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes this last minute destination even more appealing is that flights are still widely available (often at great prices), and since South Africa isn\u2019t top of mind as a summer destination, you\u2019ll have plenty of choice when it comes to accommodations and routes. You can self-drive (on the left!) or opt for organised day trips from Cape Town or Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because July and August are the best months to visit Tanzania, but most people book their safaris far in advance, there are often still spots available last minute \u2013 especially if you\u2019re a couple or flexible with your route. Thailand is a fantastic choice for a last-minute summer holiday if you\u2019re into adventure, warm hospitality, delicious food, and variety. While July and August fall within the rainy season, don\u2019t let that scare you off \u2013 the showers are usually short and intense, with warm and sunny weather in between. Especially in northern and eastern Thailand, the summer months are surprisingly pleasant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thailand is also easy to travel through. The infrastructure is good, accommodation is often still available, and prices are low compared to Europe. On top of that, the locals are incredibly welcoming \u2013 even with kids, you\u2019ll feel right at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
